FROM THE CHAIR WELCOME LETTER
WBEA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
BE EPIC – A SMALL WORD WITH A VERY BIG CONNOTATION; HEROIC, OUTSTANDING, FABULOUS, IMPRESSIVE AND AMBITIOUS.
I know these words resonate with everyone here as you are an intracule part of this “Epic” team of
women. I’m honored to chair the Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance Board (WBEA) and excited about
the opportunities we have in 2019.
We started the year off great with the WBEA “Summit and Salute” event in March which was hosted
right here in H-Town. We are home to some of the biggest oil & gas and medical corporations in the
world.
The event was spectacular with a variety of educational, networking, and promising opportunities
for all who attended. We are progressing thru 2019 with this business Conference and matchmaking
event themed, “Be Epic”. There are opportunities for new business and seasoned professionals’
whether with one of our corporates, its affiliates or another WBE.
We also hope to see you later this year in Baltimore for the WBE National Conference and Business
fair that will allow us to connect and network on a National level. Please see the WBEA / WBE event
calendars for other event listings.
April and her team have a wide variety of support services to help grow your business from;
Procurement Support, Networking, Advocacy, Training, Scholarships to name a few. Our hope is that
thru events like this you can expand your capacity and drive continuous improvement throughout
your business.
Remember to get WBENC certified and keep current to maximize all the benefits of your WBENC
certification as we continue down the road of excellence and being “EPIC”
Lets all thank April and the WBEA staff, corporate members, WBEA board, WBE’s and volunteers for
the tireless job they do to help all of us succeed.
MY BEST,
Brenda L. Erickson
Chair, WBEA Board of Director
