Veril Hughes, Dominion Capital Management Corporation; Level III Business Consulting, is a native of Bryan, Texas with a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Houston. Mrs. Hughes’ “can do” leadership skills allowed her to serve in successive elected offices as treasurer, vice president, and then as the third ever female president of the National Society of Black Engineers. Mrs. Hughes gained her industry experience in the engineering field for several years where her cost containment and management skills were employed by large private sector companies in the engineering, oil and gas, and consumer products manufacturing industries. National corporations such as Fluor, Amoco, Exxon, and Procter & Gamble implemented her process recommendations and gained millions of dollars in recovered revenues. Always having the entrepreneurial spirit, in 1984, she co‐founded and operated a home‐based business providing business consulting and operations support services to new home‐based entrepreneurs and grew her company’s retail channel to 540 retailers covering 16 states.



Ms. Nijua Heard, is a Procurement Center Representative with Small Business Administration. Ms. Heard is stationed at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. She has 16 years in Government Contracting as a Contracting Officer. She attended and graduated from Clark Atlanta University with a degree in Business Administration. Ms. Heard also has her MBS from Troy University.  She has served as a Senior Contracting Officer with U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Grant Officer, and Small Business Specialist based out Atlanta, Georgia.


Ms. Heard spends a great deal of her time advocating for small businesses through SBA and when she is not working, she still uses her time off to contribute back to the local community as a CO-Chair on the PTA Committee at Clear Creek Intermediate through her daughter school and served on the VP Membership for Toastmaster committee.


In her current role as V.P. Business Development Officer, with Advantage Capital, Tasha Harvey is responsible for generating senior and subordinated debt investments through the firm’s government-guaranteed lending team, with a focus on investing capital in small businesses located in underserved communities across the country.  Mrs. Harvey brings over 18 years of experience in banking, economic development and creating strategic partnerships.  She is a national member of the Urban Financial Services Coalition. Over the years, Tasha has developed a sharp eye for identifying the inefficiencies, cross purposes and miscommunication within an organization that often stunts growth and profit.  She now leads the consultant agency, "Strategy Essentials Group LLC", where she and her team specialize in Business Process & Profitability Analysis & Optimization.   www.advantagecap.com



Shakeatha Davis is an attorney, speaker, and multi-passionate entrepreneur. she currently serves as Owner and Principal Attorney for the minority woman-owned law firm, the S. Davis Law Group PLLC. Ms. Davis is an expert at assisting small business owners with business advisement and development which she is extremely passionate about. Prior to opening her legal practice, Ms. Davis worked for the legal department of BP America, and Judicial Intern for both Chief Bankruptcy Judge Jeff Bohm and Judge Kenneth Hoyt. She also was selected for the Presidential Management Fellow Finalist Class of 2013. Ms. Davis earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude from Thurgood Marshall School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and English from Xavier University of Louisiana. 


 Easter Wright is the Economic Development Specialist with the US Small Business Administration. Ms. Wright has been with SBA since 1983 (36 years).  Her First 26 years as a Business Opportunity Specialist was servicing SBA’s Certification Programs. In 2018 she transitioned to Economic Development Specialist servicing the Outreach Division.  She is a veteran with 7 years of service.



Celia Lopez is a Financial Access Educator for the Houston Market. She currently works for Capital One in the Community Development Banking Division as she has for the last seven years. She enjoys working with non-profit partners helping the community because of her passion for financial resiliency. Celia partners with non-profit partners to deliver financial literacy workshops and as a WBC Mastermind Counselor she will assist clients in credit, savings and budgeting, and small business.

Tamara White has more than thirty years of working in a profession that stresses “helping” others and has counseled and coached thousands during her career. She takes pride in partnering with and empowering women to adopt more fulfilled, productive lifestyles. Having worked with many through public school programming, by serving in the role of clinical therapist, working with Vets or as head of her own business, she has developed insight, which she uses to successfully help women live courageously. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Educational Psychology. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Professional Life Coach and holds a Professional Speaking Certificate. 




Michelle Chenault, MBA, M Chenault Management Consulting, LLC Michelle has a proven background with over 13 years-experience in the strategic and operational aspects of management. Following a successful career in operations and project management, Michelle now advises new and existing business owners in the areas of planning, operations, legal structure, business plans, and contract procurement. She enjoys working with entrepreneurs, women business owners and non-profit organizations providing them support and leadership in business development.



As the daughter of an entrepreneur, Cindy Urrutia understands the challenges small business owners face and is passionate about advancing access to affordable capital for entrepreneurs. She joined the PeopleFund team in the summer of 2019 after 12 years in banking with both BBVA and J.P. Morgan Chase. In addition to her experience in the financial sector, Cindy has certifications in real estate and insurance. She has a degree in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Houston Downtown. Outside of the office, Cindy enjoys spending time with her family finding new things to do, visit, and eat!!
